Kelly Might, DVM, MS
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons (Small Animal)
Dr. Kelly Might was raised in Bedford, Texas, a town between Dallas and Fort Worth. A ninth grade career project set the stage for the discovery of his love of medicine during freshman year at the University of Texas at Austin. While earning his undergraduate degree in zoology with a minor in Spanish, he realized that hands-on patient care was his calling. Upon graduating Dr. Might began veterinary school at Oklahoma State University and immediately found his passion for veterinary surgery. After completing a 1-year rotating internship at PetCare Veterinary Hospital in Santa Rosa, California, he went on to perform a 1-year surgical internship at Aspen Meadow Veterinary Specialists in Colorado. These experiences were then followed by a three-year surgical residency at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. During his training, Dr. Might developed a strong interest in minimally invasive surgery and orthopedics. While at Washington State University, Dr. Might published multiple manuscripts and found great interest in orthopedic research.

After 9 years away from home, Dr. Might, his wife, and two children returned to Austin, Texas where he started Austin Area Mobile Veterinary Surgery, performing specialty surgical services on a mobile basis for 10 years alongside Dr. David Allman with Mobile Veterinary Specialists. The relationships he developed over those 10 years, both within and outside of the veterinary community, helped lead to the formation of Violet Crown Veterinary Specialists with Dr. Katie Kennedy.

Dr. Might strongly believes in giving back to the community through acts of service and volunteerism, including assisting underprivileged and elderly community members with veterinary care they otherwise can’t afford. He believes the rewards of veterinary medicine are most profound when our service not only improves a pet’s quality of life, but also the owners.

When not at work, Dr. Might enjoys mountain biking, spending time with his family, cooking, and enduring the antics of their Doodles Arlo and June, their Jack Russell Terrier Chewie, and mischievous hairless cat, Archie.Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons – Small Animal, 2014
